In the occasion of the 23rd CCN Workshop, which was held from 30th of July to 2nd of August 2018 at Technische Universität Dresden (TUD), RANGER partners from TUD Niko Joram and Adrian Figueroa delivered two presentations related to the RANGER project.
Tuomas Tammilehto, project manager of the RANGER project gave another lecture on methodological difficulties of showing the value creation of RANGER project at the Leppävaara Campus of Laurea University of Applied Sciences on the 13th of June, 2018.
RANGER participated in Maritime Search and Rescue 2018 event in Helsinki, Finland in 22 May, and performed a presentation of the project advances for a distinguished audience of European and North-American professionals of maritime search and rescue
Criminologist and project manager of the RANGER-project, Mr. Tuomas Tammilehto, lectured on enhancing security and crime prevention capabilities on the Mediterranean Sea at the Leppävaara Campus of Laurea University of Applied Sciences on Thursday, 15th of February 2018.
RANGER was presented in Laurea’s magazine – Forerunner – that highlights current topics in Laurea research, development and innovation activities for University’s interest groups in English. The article entitled “New radar technology aims to save lives at the Mediterranean Sea” gives an overview of the project and specifically talks about the radar technology developed in the RANGER project and how this enhances maritime surveillance and Search and Rescue operations.
RANGER-partner Diginext participated at the fourth Forum Horizon 2020, held on the 4th of December 2017, in Paris and organized by the French Ministry of Research.
A paper entitled “Fully Differential High Input Power Handling Ultra-Wideband Low Noise Amplifier for MIMO Radar Application” was presented by RANGER partner TUD at the 2017 IEEE Compound Semiconductor IC Symposium, on 22-25 October 2017, in Miami, USA.
Consortium partner NATO – CMRE participated in the Naval Domain Intelligence meeting, focusing on technological innovations to enhance naval domain intelligence and increase beyond line of site capabilities. Consortium partner HMOD also attended the meeting as observer.
The RANGER poster was displayed at the European Researchers’ Night EC Initiative which took place at National Polytechnic University of Athens, on 29 September 2017.
A paper entitled “A Fully Balanced Ultra-Wide Band Mixer MMIC with Multi-Tanh Triplet Input for High Dynamic Range Radar Receiver Systems” was presented by RANGER partner TUD at the 24th International Conference on Noise and Fluctuations in Vilnius, Lithuania (June 20-23, 2017).
On 15th March and 29th September, 2017 two RANGER lectures were delivered by the TUD partners as part of a series of seminars that are organised each semester for the graduate students by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics.
In preparation of the RANGER validation pilot in Greece, a site survey and technical meeting took place on 21-23 February 2017, in Crete, Greece. During the site survey, the candidate areas where examined in terms of access, space, installation pre-requisites and limitations so as to assess the different options and identify the optimum locations for the deployment of the Over-The-Horizon (OTH) and Photonic Enhanced (PE) – MIMO Radars.
RANGER was presented at the Workshop on Coast Guard Functions: Border Control & Illegal Migration organized by the European Coast Guard Functions Forum (ECGFF) with the support of the FRONTEX, on 16 February 2017, in Warsaw.
The RANGER project was presented by the coordinator during the 15th Public Safety Communication Europe Conference organized on 23 & 24 November 2016 in Athens, Greece.
EXUS, delivered a presentation of the RANGER project with the title: Radars for long distance maritime surveillance and SaR operations (RANGER): Serving the need for safer European seas, in a conference session on how to make border surveillance more effective.
In the framework of Work Package 2, Task 2.2: Generic and Pilot-specific Mission and Operational Requirements Elicitation, two special workshops were organized on 26 & 27 July 2016, in Athens-Greece and on 27 & 28 September 2016, in Toulon – France. The workshops were attended by EXUS, as project Coordinator; LAU, as Work Package 2: Mission, Operational and System Requirements leader; HMOD, as Task 2.2: Generic and Pilot-specific Mission and Operational Requirements Elicitation leader; The Hellenic Navy and DMA as end-users; and ICCS, as project Technical manager.
RANGER project was presented by EXUS at the Workshop on Border Security related EU funded projects, organised by FRONTEX, that took place at Warsaw on 15-16 June 2016.
RANGER project was presented together with the most important currently running or recently finalized EU funded projects in the area of Border Security.
